Gemstone provenance: from the earth to the jewel

I believe knowing where a gemstone comes from is part of knowing the stone itself.

Central Queensland

Rubyvale, in Central Queensland, has been a source of exceptional sapphires for generations. My father mined here for a significant part of his career, and it remains a region that holds a special place in my story.

I regularly return to the Gemfields to hand-pick rough sapphires and work with independent miners who share my commitment to quality and integrity.

SMO Gold - Bellevue Gold Mine

I am proud to work with SMO, a global standard in fully traceable responsible gold, as an SMO Partner.

SMO Gold is only sourced from SMO Member Mines, who operate responsibly and transparently, adhering to the highest ESG standards in protecting and promoting their environment and wider community, and who are independently audited, annually.

My SMO Gold is specifically sourced from the Bellevue Gold Mine, located in the Northern Goldfields of Western Australia.

Bellevue was named the world's first net zero gold operation in 2025, powered largely by its own solar and wind station. Because SMO Gold traces every gram to this one mine, I can tell you exactly where the gold in your piece came from.

Gemstones from Truthseeker Gems

Alongside the Australian gems I buy directly from Central Queensland miners, I source other stones, including spinel, garnet, aquamarines, tourmalines and tanzanite from Truthseeker Gems, a specialist supplier of gemstones for goldsmiths and jewellery designers like myself.

Truthseeker Gems source from a deliberately limited number of trusted locations through direct, long-term partnerships and supply untreated natural and cut stones. I select each stone individually, then design the jewellery around it.

KNOWING THE STONE

Known from the ground up

I buy my sapphires directly from independent miners in the Central Queensland Gem Fields, many of them people I've known for decades. Other gems come from Truthseeker Gems and other independent artisanal miners. My gold comes from an SMO mine in Western Australia. So for every piece, I can tell you where the stone was found and where the gold was mined.

01
independent miners

Longstanding relationships with small scale trusted miners in Australia’s Gemfields with generations of knowledge and expertise.

02
Direct relationships

I build close, long-term relationships with the people who source the stones, ensure fair policies and transparancy..

03
Responsible sourcing

Prioritising minimal environmental impact and supporting local communities where possible.
